Sometimes the problem is not that we have run out of ideas. Sometimes the creative process has simply become too familiar. Curio reminded me what happens when something unexpected enters the room and makes me curious again.

I created Curio for a new YouTube channel. I did not expect this tiny animated character with orange glasses to make me excited about creating videos again.
A new creative direction does not always begin with a completely new idea. Sometimes it appears when two older interests finally find a way to belong together.
What if the next creative direction is not something completely new, but a combination of ideas you have already been carrying with you?
Sometimes changing creative focus isn’t about giving up on a project. It’s about creating enough distance to become curious again, and discovering what a different kind of work can bring back with you.
Sometimes creative work doesn’t need fixing. Sometimes it needs a little distance. I’ve been wondering whether looking somewhere else for a while might be exactly what helps curiosity return.
