AI is Making Me More Emotionally Aware—Somehow

A person with earbuds stands at a city train platform at sunrise, gazing into the distance as soft golden light fills the scene.

I’ve been noticing something strange.

The more I use AI—tools that mimic empathy, offer polite feedback, even say things like “I understand how you feel”—the more I’m paying attention to my own emotional intelligence.

Noticing pauses.
Watching my tone.
Asking: Was I really listening just now? Or just waiting for my turn to speak?

It’s ironic, isn’t it? A machine that doesn’t feel is reminding me to feel more.

It makes me wonder if emotional intelligence is becoming more important, not less, in this tech-heavy world. Because when a response sounds right but feels off… we notice. That little inner radar? That’s ours.

And I think we’re going to need it.

Still sorting through this.
Just something I’m thinking about today.

What’s been on your mind?
