Am I Too Old?

A mature woman stands outdoors in the morning light, looking thoughtfully toward the horizon with a notebook tucked under her arm.

Over the last week or so, my social media feeds have become strangely obsessed with age.

Maybe I clicked on one video too many, but now they keep showing me people discussing whether they’re too old for YouTube, too old for social media, too old to start creating, too old for this or that.

It’s an interesting question.

Not because I agree with it, but because I don’t think I’ve ever stopped to ask where the idea comes from.

I started my YouTube channel when I was 60.

A cozy creative workspace with a laptop displaying a video editing project, handwritten notes, a coffee cup, reading glasses, and a camera in warm morning light.

At the time, I don’t remember thinking, “Am I too old?” I was much more occupied with learning how to film, edit, upload, and figure out why my audio never sounded quite right.

Only now, after seeing all these conversations, have I started wondering what “too old” actually means.

Too old according to who?

Too old for what?

Or are we really talking about something else entirely?

I don’t have an answer yet.

It’s simply one of those thoughts that has been following me around this week, and I suspect I’ll keep turning it over for a while before I know what I really think.
